Refit

   

We’d been talking about what we might want to upgrade since we got the boat, researching various options and doing some high level systems designs, but things started getting real when we actually began making decisions, ordering equipment, and hiring professionals.

Between ourselves, a few awesome professionals, and an unending stream of friends, family, and dock mates, who lent hands, advice, and shoulders to cry on, we got the refit done in ~4 months. I was still working and Jesse was finishing the remodel of our house, so we pretty much vanished off the map socially and spent every evening and weekend working on the boat.

  • Sails: Radial Dacron main and 125% genoa from Ballard Sails
  • Electronics: Garmin suite (MFD, Radar, Wind, Water, AIS, VHF)
  • Electrical: Victron 900 AH lithium house bank with 800W of solar
  • Autopilot: Lecomble & Schmitt drive unit; Garmin Reactor 40
  • Communications: Starlink HP dish
  • Safety: Stainless steel life lines, life raft, EPIRB
  • Dingy: Achilles LSI-310 and Tohatsu 9.8hp
  • Everything else: Diesel pump and filter system replacements, toilet pumps and hoses, deck hatches, engine raw water filters and hoses, LED light conversions, DC charging run throughout interior, anchor chain upgraded, installed surfboard rack, BBQ, and cockpit table, fresh bottom paint, and the list goes on.
