SF to LA

   

We needed to get the boat to LA so I could get to the office and we could tuck her into her reserved slip in Marina del Ray for Nov while we went back up to Seattle to finish up the houses.

Jesse’s brother Ben joined us for this leg of the trip – It was a motor nearly the whole way. No rolling without waves which is nice, but the constant hammering of the engine causes it’s own unique type of fatigue. With the calm conditions, we did individual 3 hour watches, with 3-on-6-off. We hardly knew what to do with so much time off-watch after having lived nearly a week of 3-on-3-off. We watched sports, made fish tacos, enjoyed sunrises, read books, planned passages, grilled hot dogs, and sunbathed.

Arrival to LA was eventful, with everyone out sailing on the beautiful evening. Jesse had to dodge the sailing dingys to get to our slip. A dramatic change from the solitude of being offshore. Jesse did some maintenance on the boat, I went to the office in LA for a few days, then we threw some of our belongings into bags and caught a flight back to Seattle.
